Rain, rain and more rain…

When I got up this morning I knew it was just going to be “one of those days”. Mommy took a quick shower while I finished my breakfast and milk. I opted to curl up and watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I just didn’t want to get going today.

Today I have been off… just off. The rain is still coming down (4 days now). At least Mommy is getting me out to Gymboree so I am not too crazy. But the rain just seems to drain me. I have been “emotional”. Today one of my friends screamed in my face (mind you I do this to him on a daily basis) and I totally LOST it. I cried in Mommy’s lap for 15 minutes. Yesterday a little girl hit me (3 separate times) and I cried and cried. Mommy put a stop to it and the girl got a time out. I swear I am an easy target sometimes. Is it just because I am so nice? I just want to hug! 🙂

So today I think I will just stay in bed after my nap and not move until the sun shines. Good idea? Probably not… Mommy will inevitably drag me back to Gymboree to burn off some juice.

E-I-E-I-O?

And on his farm there was a Breighton.

Today I went with Mommy & Daddy to do their volunteer hours at the new organic food co-op we joined this year. Sweetwater Organic. Mommy was pessimistic about me being out on the farm and helping but I surprised everyone. While Daddy trimmed some overgrown plants blocking a gate to one of the growing fields I helped Mommy. We swept out the open barn, picked up wood and put it in the trash can, watered the cat (Lucky) and pulled some invasive weeds. I was an AWESOME little helper. I pushed the broom around, dug holes all over the mulch with a little shovel I found by a tree, helped Mommy sort wood (pieces I could pick up with one hand went in the trash bin and pieces that needed two hands to be picked up I stacked on the table so they could be used later), dipped a stick in the watering hose and let the cat lick it and helped another lady carry weeds to a wheel barrow. I enjoyed getting FILTHY. We only stayed for about two hours. I was hungry and hot and so were Mommy & Daddy. Two hours was my limit anyway. I was starting to get too wound up and wandering away became my main focus.

Afterwards we stopped off and grabbed a quick bite to eat on the way home. We came home and all had quick baths and then ran a few errands. I took a nice long nap and felt all rested. We ran a few more errands and then I played a few games with Mommy until dinner time. I heard the ice cream truck and actually got to go get a “special treat” for being such a good boy all day. Daddy bought me a “SpongeBob” (I don’t know who that is, just that it was yellow)popsicle thingy. Mommy let me eat it in the bathtub before my bedtime bath. The entire time I was eating I kept telling Mommy that the ice cream was “DEEEE-licious” and “Tasssstttty”. She just giggled at me. We wrapped up the ice cream treat with a warm bath to get all the sticky off. Mommy and I read a few books while Daddy worked on some food for Grandma Jo’s Birthday Bash tomorrow. I nearly fell asleep while Mommy was reading but soon got my second wind. It is 9:10 and I am still awake. Mommy just turned out my light so I have to stop blogging now.

Good-night! 🙂

“Innocent” playground antics?

Tonight I turn control of my blog over to Mommy for her to rant for a few moments about the playground tonight. Here you go Mommy…

Hi everyone, Mommy here! 🙂 Ahhhh. So… where to begin. Breighton has been asking to go to the playground ever since he came down with HFMD (no fun!). So today we made a quick stop before lunch and had a grand old time for about 15-20 minutes until I decided it was WAY to stinking hot and icky to be running around outside in the heat of noon. I promised another trip would come in the near future and Breighton accepted, finally. After dinner tonight David, Breighton and I stopped back by Long Center on the way home. Breighton was wound for sound and needed to burn some energy off before bed (probably had nothing to do with the bowl of ice cream from Brewsters!)

So we (David and I) chased Breighton in full toddler style all around the playground. It is a great playground now after the second remodel which FINALLY led to it being fully gated in! Anyway, Breighton really enjoys the “sand pit” and was having a blast. As I stood and watched there was a young boy (3) who was nose to nose with another boy who looked the same age. They were arguing about something (peace in middle east? the presidential debates? *shrug*) and one of the boys (the 3 year old…very tiny kid btw) took off his belt and folded it in half and started to snap it. He was toe to toe with the other boy and finally the kid without the belt stepped back. Breighton was about 2 feet away and I walked and squatted down between B and the “Belt wielder”… really to protect B just in case the kid went berserk! I asked the kid holding the belt what was wrong. He told me that the girls wouldn’t put a door in their sandcastle (obviously a grand reason to de-belt and threaten other kids). I suggested he build his own sandcastle and he just kind of stared at me. I looked around and there were NO parents in sight for any of the 8+ kids in the area. NONE! Who takes their kids to a playground and doesn’t supervise… oh wait… LOTS of parents! I offered a few more words of encouragement to try to get the kid to put the belt back on and go play something else. I got nowhere and we decided it was time to go! I picked up Breighton and washed off his hands and feet in the new bathroom and we headed home. As we drove away the boy walked up to the girls sandcastle and stuck his finger in it, obviously making the door that drove him to near violence.

The whole way home and still to this moment I am ANGRY at people. I think it is great that parents take their kids to playground and out to socialize. But they need to supervise their children. I was expecting a fight to break out on the playground between an ANGRY 3y/o and 3 other kids all under 8! Why was I nervous about this? These are the kids that would be in school with Breighton. It scares me to think that a 3 y/o would act the way this boy did. This is the kind of kid that will be wielding guns and gang tats before he can legally drive… heck probably before he can tie his own shoes (probably at least a while… he was wearing velcro!). I feel sad for these children in a way. What are their parents doing to them or siblings that a 3 year old would even comprehend taking off a belt to use it as a weapon. Sponge Bob surely doesn’t teach this?! Does he?!

It is moments like this that I am HAPPY to be a stay-at-home-mom and be actively involved in the growth and development of our son.

So a note to you parents out there that frequent the playgrounds… I am watching you! Are you watching your kids? Supervise your kids, teach them morals and values and not violence! If we want a better world for our kids, it needs to start at home!

Drumroll Please….

I was asleep last night by 8:20 (with a small awakening from 9:15-9:45 for unknown reasons) and slept in until 8am today! 🙂 I am really enjoying the darkness of the new room. Mommy awakes to light like I do so she understands why I haven’t been sleeping well. Daylight savings can’t come quick enough but with the new room, I should be good for a while.

I am a bit on the hyper side today again. This morning I was sitting on the bed with Mommy and Daddy and for an unknown reason let out this giggle scream that managed to set off the glass break sensor in the bedroom. Mommy and Daddy scrambled to find the phone and call the alarm company while I sat clutching my ears until the siren stopped howling! Someday I will learn, but for today I LIKE screaming at the top of my lungs! Mommy and Daddy don’t like it, not one little bit. So that means I should keep doing it, right???

I am sort of scared of thunder and with all the storms this past week I am adapting better. When I see rain or lightning or hear thunder I immediately warn everyone within the top of my lungs ear shot “WATCH OUT!!!!” Mommy said it was cute at first but now I do it when Daddy is driving, nearly makes him crash! It is my fun way of coping with something that stresses me out. Hehe! Enjoy! 🙂

Sleep

After Mommy moved me to the bottom mattress at 9:15 I fell asleep rather quickly. I just don’t like the treehouse yet… it is a bit too dark. I did however sleep in until 8am this morning. Mommy was happy as it is raining out and Mommy can’t boot well when there is rain outside. Makes the entire house tired. It was nice not to have the cats kicking litter and banging against my bedroom wall for once. The room was a bit dark and Mommy said she will go today to try to find me a different light… because the camping lantern is just going to eat batteries.

I am all better and back to Gymboree today for art class. I haven’t liked being tied to the house. I am just glad I healed up quickly so I can get back to my routine.

Daddy has been nominated for the new HOA president position and will go to a meeting next week to “sell” himself to the other members of the committee. Good luck Daddy! It doesn’t pay anything but at least we would have some control and say as to how the neighborhood develops and changes. There are a lot of people around here that just don’t give a stitch about their lawns and homes. We want to try to change that. This is a cute neighborhood it just need a kick in the tush!
