Coast Guard Station Tour and Boatride

Today we went to the Coast Guard station at Sand Key. I learned a lot about what the Coast Guard does and the equipment that they use.

I learned how the rope bags for rescues work.

I tried on some gear.

Then we waited on the dock until it was our turn to go out in the water on the new boat.

We found lots of fun things to look at to pass the time.

All geared up and ready to go for our ride.

It looked like a small boat but boy did it go fast.

Slowly starting out on the water.

Off we go!

We are really flying at about 30-35 knots.

Zipping around in the waters was such a fun experience.

Fun with Lasers

We were learning how light travels. I learned that is doesn’t bend but can be reflected or refracted. We set up a laser and bounced it all around a box.

We used science to make optical illusions. The short candle appears to be lit when it is the tall one that is lit. I thought that was pretty cool! IMG_5548

We used a pinhole camera to look at the sun!

How fun!

It’s Almost Christmas!

With Thanksgiving on the uneventful side at our house we are diving headfirst into Christmas.

After we ate our Thanksgiving we started to put the tree up. Daddy flew out the next day to go to Great Grandpa’s Funeral.

IMG_5503

Ollie and Jolly made their appearance. They are up to no good as usual.

IMG_5506

When Daddy was in PA we got the tree decorated.

We attached it to the school table this year so the cats wouldn’t be as destructive. We had to block in the base with boxes to prevent the chewing of the light strings.

All finished, let the holidays begin!

IMG_5510

We went with Grandma Susie to the Florida Botanical Gardens to see the holiday lights. They were awesome!

We watched a man juggle and another man on stilts. The man on stilts made me a balloon animals. Mommy got to show off her skill and made Emmerson a poodle!

I am in the holiday spirit now and ready to go!

Life in Fast Forward

The holidays are fast approaching and we are going at a zillion miles an hour lately. We still find time to do arts and crafts. I made this awesome otter out of Model Magic.

IMG_5428

We learned about worm composting at 4H.

IMG_5430

I had several science lessons with Mr. McWiz!

IMG_5438

I wrapped up my level 3B mathbook. We are going to take a break from this program and read the Life of Fred books for a while now.

IMG_5440

I got my teeth cleaned at the dentist. I like to go visit because the lobby is full of video games.

IMG_5442

Straight home from the dentist I had my first and probably last ever Twinkie! I really didn’t care for them.

IMG_5451

We went to the Festival of Trees at the Long Center and we bought a cool wreath. We hung it on the front door for the holidays.

IMG_5454

I got a bit carried away with temporary tattoos!

IMG_5456

We had a fun morning at Farm City Day for 4H.

IMG_5461

Then the speed of life hit me and I was down for the count. I spend the entire weekend on the cot in the living room. We all got sick, except Daddy.

IMG_5467

With Thanksgiving on its way, we learned that Great Grandpa Reed passed away. We were all very sad. I wish I had gotten to know him better. Our goal was to keep Daddy healthy so he could attend the funeral in PA. Lockdown at our house until we all were better. Emmerson was better quickly and I took an extra day. Mommy got hit with the plague but bounced back, Moms aren’t allowed to get sick according to Daddy.

We had a very quiet Thanksgiving, as everyone was headed north for the funeral of Great Grandpa. There were lots of leftovers! I ate my first turkey leg!

Hoping things slow down a bit soon. We could all use the break.

Golden Rainbow Ranch

I always love a trip to MIss Ali’s farm at Golden Rainbow Ranch. My friend Zoe got to go with me this trip. We had a blast on the hayride.

IMG_5468

We all took turns hugging Penny the therapy dog.

IMG_5472

Zoe’s brother, Eliot, is really fun to hang out with. He was great with the animals.

IMG_5474

We found chicken eggs in the coop.

IMG_5477

We got to hold some barn kitties.

IMG_5480

IMG_5482

We got alpaca kisses. Basically the alpaca just blows air on the nose. It was super silly.

IMG_5487

What a great treat to go with great friends to the farm.
