Yesterday we opted to change our plans a bit and packed camp and headed west towards Quebec City. The drive is about 8-9 hours and we plan to split it into two days. Today we drove to Point-au-Pere Lighthouse. We got our bearings and then headed out for a lighthouse tour.
We got to go up into the lighthouse. It is the second tallest in Canada. It is only 1 meter shorter than the one we visited two days ago.
The lenses were amazing to see. It was fun to climb up all the stairs and narrow ladders to the top. Mom wasn’t too happy (her knee still hurts from New Hampshire on stairs and steep grades) but was excited to climb up a lighthouse.
We loved climbing the stairs and ladders.
This was a sub called the Onondaga. We did not feel like waiting in line to see it.
The place was packed and the weather was exceeding dreary so we opted to keep on trucking down the road.
We have checked into a small campground in Kamouraska for the night and then will continue on after lunch tomorrow to Quebec City.
In the morning we explored the little campground. There were goats, chickens and rabbits in a hutch.
The goat was really hungry.
We helped Mom with laundry, and by help that meant stayed out of the way.
We even jumped on a trampoline.
We headed out before lunch and drove to Quebec City to our next campground for 4 nights. We set up camp and then headed into town to check it out. We opted to go to Montgomery Falls. It is 30 meters (98feet) higher than Niagara Falls.
We took a cable car to the bottom and then back to the top.
We walked a trail that took us out and over the falls. We watched people zipline but none of us were brave enough to do the zipline.
We ended the adventure with a cheese shop and then a nice ice cream shop that sold the most delightful dipped cones!
