Exploring Schoodic Peninsula

Last night after staying at the playground until nearly 9am we finished our Jr. Ranger Books and were excited to earn our badges. The visitors center at Schoodic in Acadia is brand new and it was very quiet so we had a nice long Jr. Ranger swearing in for the park. We even got to wear (borrowed and checked for lice!) real ranger hats!

We drove the loop on the peninsula and took more photos and enjoyed lots of rock hopping.

We found hundreds of snails on the rocks as the tide was going out.

Mom followed along the road as Dad chased us on the rocks.

Dad was a bit nervous but let us cross this area where the tide was actually coming in. We were worried we would get stuck out on the rocks and need a rescue. We did come back in plenty time. The tides move very quickly since they are so large in shifts.

We wrapped up the exploring with a hike on the Sundew Trail and exploring at the nature center. We had a great day and were totally exhausted. We stopped for pizza not he way back to the campground (it was about an hour drive back). E and I just read on our kindles while we waited for huge bowls of pasta.

Refreshed and energized we begged to go to the pool when we got back. Mom indulged. The pool is heated to around 80F but the air was around 50F. Mom shivered not he side of the pool while we dove, splashed and slid.

We lasted an hour before we finally decided we were cold, plus the fog was moving in fairly quickly.
