For my gifted class we had to enter the PTA Reflections contest. I choose a picture of a spider making a web to fit the category “Believe, Dream, Inspire”. We got an email from my teacher that someone from the school won an award so we went to the ceremony to cheer on my fellow schoolmates. My name was printer in the brochure! A girl from my class won an award for a story she wrote. We figured that was all.

Suddenly, my photo appeared on the big screen!! I was one of two 3rd-5th graders chosen to go on to state competitions! I had to go up on stage to get my award.

I have a cool plaque with my name on it! AWESOME!

When we got home all 5 cats were on Mom and Dad’s bed to greet us! Apparently they missed us a lot.

They were happy to have the front door open the next day so they could lay on the porch.

We have some monarch caterpillars growing in our butterfly garden!

Tonight is is supposed to freeze so we covered them up to block the wind a bit to give them a better chance of surviving.

We warmed up with layer of pajamas and stuffing our pajamas with stuffed animals.

They entire 10 day trip there was no snow. So of course it snowed this morning. We left at 4am but not before making a tiny snowman.

We slid down the small hill a few times on the sled but just sank into the grass.

Not enough snow to stay and play in so heading home was the right choice!

It was cold and drippy but our last day in Asheville so we went out to see more nature. The Nature Center was EMPTY. We watched the otters play like they had never had attention from people before. They kept swimming over to us and doing all sorts of flips and tricks.

We were shocked to see more animals than normal. Being chilly and wet I was surprised to see anyone out of their nice warm enclosures.

Even the white wolves were right up at the fences of their enclosures.

Since last time we came they have installed a huge spider climbing area.

We warmed up in the center looking at items under the microscope projectors.

We stopped back by the otters to watch them get fed lunch. We learned a lot from the staff member doing the feeding. Only two other people were there to watch so we really got to ask a lot of questions.

Yummy? Maybe to an otter!

After the Nature Center we stopped by the mall so I could jump a little before we headed to the hour to pack up the car for tomorrows departure.

We spent the morning up at the fort not he hill. We made a shelter out of branches and some weapons to protect ourselves from mutant monster invaders.

After a warm bath and a huge cup of hot cocoa, Daddy helped us make Lemur Scat.

We played games and played on our iPads well into the evening. Dad had bought us these cool build your own straw things.

We all had a fun time creating crazy drinking straws and then spraying water at each other.
