2013 – Breighton's Journey

Snow Tubing in Hendersonville

We drove to Hendersonville to go tubing at Moonshine Mountain. I was so excited.

You have to sit in your tube and a pulley pulls you up the hill.

The ride down was AWESOME! E chickened out so Mommy used his pass to ride with me.

Waiting at the top was exhausting.

What a great day of zipping down the bumpy hills.

There is still no snow in NC but at least it was cold enough that they could blow snow at the tubing place. It was a bit muddy at the bottom but only Mom got stuck in the mud.

Dupont Forest

Mommy wanted to go hike at Dupont Forest. This is the forest where part of the Hunger Games movie was filmed. There are lots of beautiful waterfalls and hiking trails.

We bundled up and went for a longggggg hike.

The waterfalls were amazing.

There was even a covered bridge over the water.

We skipped stones on a huge lake.

Then we discovered that some of the little ponds were covered in ice. We took huge stones and smashed the ice.

That afternoon we hiked around the lake at Grandma and Grandpaâ€™s house.

A lot of hiking in the cool weather should make us tired but not so much. We are wired!

North Carolina Arboretum

The drive to NC was uneventful and quick. The roads were clean and traffic wasnâ€™t terribly bad. The first morning we had frost not he windows of the car. No snow yet!

It is wicked cold for us Florida people so we bundled up and went for a hike at the Arboretum.

There was a Lego in the Garden display going on at the center. They had lots of Lego things kids and adults built on display.

There were about 30 larger lego sculptures out int he gardens and pathways.

I just loved the bison!

What does the fox say?

I was borderline obsessed with these weird icicles that were growing out of the ground. I picked up as many as I could and carried them until they melted in the warmth of my gloves.

E was posing for tons of pictures and I wanted in on that action.

Then we swapped and i meditated while E pretended he was dead?

A peaceful hike. Bliss.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all! Grandma Jo, Grandpa Howie and Grandma Susie came over for a family Christmas before we packed up the cars for our road trip.

Santa came and all of the gifts from him had QR codes on them. When you scanned the codes it told my wish list and location of gift delivery. Santa has certainly gone high tech!
