Today I turned 7! Wow! Mom surprised me with a trip into the earth. We visited Merimac Caverns just west of St. Louis. They were huge and much more spacious than those of Ruby Falls from the other day.
We learned a lot about Jesse james and how he robbed a train and then hid in the caves.
The stalactite and stalagmites in the cave were very impressive.
It was also really cold! All I had on was a very thin t-shirt. I just huddled inside of it.
They lot up the rocks for dramatic effect but boy was it cool!

This is called “the wine glass”. I thought it looked more like a dragon or a camel.
They called the the “bubble room”. You could see where the old water line was and how the bubbles were formed as the water eroded the limestone walls.
The curtain in the theater was fun because they played music and had a light show.
What a great birthday gift!
