Year: 2019

This year I am taking more of a leadership roll in archery. I still shoot a little but not often like I was before. I am enjoying helping out with the new Try Archery program in the county. I help keep the shooters safe and make sure they are being safe. I am learning to help with shooting form and help them fine tune their abilities.  The Try It group only shoots for 6 weeks. I hope to help Mom do some camps in the spring when the weather is a bit cooler.

On Monday’s we have had about 40 youth out not he range. It is really nice to see the club growing.

Tonight I rant he educational part of the County Youth Council meeting with a presentation on entomophagy, the practice of adding insects to your diet. I had a nice powerpoint. We had a great conversation about food security and how people can change the stigma of eating insects into something good.I have done a lot of research and am eager to try to add more to my diet. We had a lot of people sample our treats. The chocolate chirp cookies were the biggest hit again!

SPC Tarpon Springs had a fun family science night. I loved seeing all the animals. We learned about circuits. We also watched an amazing science show with some rather showy funny science experiments. This is an excellent program and you should attend next year if you can!

We attended Marine Quest School Daze with out 4-H group again this year. I love this even but hate the first activity. It is so loud at the start as the staff tries to burn some energy out of the youth. Just loud! We had a great rotation this year and learned a lot about marine science and marine life. We broke into teams to do some mock research. What a motley crew.

Sorting by order in a fun marine life game. I enjoy the labs the best and getting to see all the different research that is going on at FWC. There was a cool lab on bioluminescence  this year. We got to evaluate various microbes. We went INSIDE a cell. I promptly pointed out all the errors in construction. Touchtank is always a hit.

We treated my pal Steven and his mom to a day at Busch Gardens. We had two guest passes that were due to expire soon so needed to use them up. Steven and I went off on our own for most of the day. We enjoyed rides and freedom while the moms and Emmerson hung out. It was a super fun day and I am glad we got to enjoy it.
