This is typical way you will find me lately. I am nose into books like crazy. I am reading about a book a day. Normally around 100 pages!
This is me waiting for the doctors office to open. I was reading a Golden Book of Natural History.
(As portrayed by Mom & Dad)
Off to Washington DC. We got to relax in the lounge before our flight. We read lots of books and had a ton of snacks and hot cocoa.
Daddy managed to get us upgraded to first class. I had a huge seat and a lady to bring me more snacks and Sprite! I watched cartoons on my iPad the entire trip.
The METRO was awesome. We rode it all over DC. It moves really fast and you have to know where you are going or else you can get really lost. At rush hour the trains are super crowded.
We rode the carousal in “The Mall”. “The Mall” is a huge open grassy area near the Smithsonian Museums where people can enjoy nature, shows or a nice walk.
When we got to “The Mall” the National Book Festival was going on. We got to listen to stories, get free books and even see the Magic School Bus!
We could see the Washington Monument so we walked down to visit. We did a LOT of walking.
There was a big earthquake on August 23, 2011 and now there are huge cracks in the monument. Pieces fell off inside and out. I got to hold one of the chunks of marble and see many other smaller fragments. They are working on fixing the monument now. We saw a man in a harness hanging at the top working on the monument, 555 feet up in the air!
As we walked around we could see the White House.
We visited the Old Post Office. You can take a little elevator to the top and look out on Washington DC. What an amazing view!
The National Zoo was one of my favorite places. They had giant pandas, red pandas and shrews! They were so much fun to watch.
Mommy took us on a 5 mile walk one day and we visited all the monuments. The Jefferson Memorial was gigantic. I had no idea it was this big!
Thomas Jefferson was the first, second and third. Easy as 1, 2, 3! The first secretary of state. The second vice president. The third president of the United States.
I was even photographed and filmed by a bunch of tourists. Some funny youtube video I am sure!
Franklin Roosevelt Memorial
I hate war!
Lincoln Memorial.
It was REALLY big!
We walked past the White House again.
I think we spent a lot of our time in the Smithsonian Museums. I loved the giant squid.
The Hope Diamond was rather large.
We loved playing with the giant loadstone.
I liked seeing the bullet that the Chilian miners were rescued in.
We took a tour of the White House!
We made it out with out a single security incident! Go US!
THe Smithsonian Castle was really pretty on the outside but really boring on the inside.
I greatly enjoyed the sculpt gardens.
At the Air and Space Museum I got to help with an experiment. I learned about the 4 forces of flight.
We saw the plane that the Wright brothers flew at Kitty Hawk.
We enjoyed wandering around the US Botanical Gardens.
We stopped and smelled the roses.
Brotherly love in front of the US Capital building.
That’s better.
More int he gardens.
We went to Arlington National Cemetery and saw the changing of the guards.
We found the eternal flame at JFKs gravesite.
We spent our last morning exploring a bit more. I loved the super long escalators in the METRO.
It was super cold out for us Florida kids. We had to go to COSTCO and buy new jackets.
We went to the National Archives and saw the ACTUAL Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights. We couldn’t take pictures because it was forbidden.
What an amazing trip.
