Orlando Madness

Today we went over to Orlando for a fun day of exploring. We started at Animal Kingdom for a new game they have called Lion Guard. The park was really empty, considering they had extra magic hours today.

For the Lion Guard quest you picked up a map and then tracked down 5 statues around the park.

After we got all the photos of the statues we headed to the train station to travel to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. We were waiting for the train and Emmerson was asked to go with a staff member. He refused unless we all went. We got to ride with Rafiki to open up Planet Watch!

I thought we should take a photo with all the Rafiki’s we saw.

IMG_5951

We got in the VERY long (non existent) line to take the oath. They didn’t need to see our photos and just took our word for it.

IMG_5953

We got cool huge Lion Guard buttons.

IMG_5962

We checked out surgery on a gazelle. It was being chemically castrated to prevent it for making babies.

IMG_5963

More Rafiki!

We hiked the animal trails and opted to head out and over to I-Drive to see the Orlando Eye. We have passes to Legoland that get us into the EYE, SeaLife and the Wax Museum for free. There was no line for the Eye! Emmerson was scared. Apparently clinging to me was his way of calming down.

We watched a short 4-D video and then were loaded into our car (they only put 7 people in our car!)

IMG_5972

Up we go!

There are cool iPads that you can take a tour and locate things in the distance.

IMG_5976

I liked the Lockheed Martin Missile Factory!

We sat at the top for a minute. It was the only time it stopped. The view was awesome! The total height was 400 feet. The Gateway Arch in St. Louis is 230′ higher!

Next we visited Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. There were lot of interactive areas.

IMG_5995

I was shocked that Abe Lincoln was so tall. We talked about the Gettysburg address and I told him I agreed with his politics.

IMG_5997

Neil Armstrong was rather stiff just like his moon flag.

IMG_5999

We were on TV! haha

IMG_6002

We also broke into the Oval office and made a few prank phone calls.

IMG_6011

Then checked under the resolute desk for the hidden compartments (we didn’t find any!).

IMG_6014

Walt was pretty real looking.

IMG_6017

I tossed up bunny ears with my pal Al!

IMG_6019

He sucked punched me in the stomach.

IMG_6020

Thomas just kept babbling about light bulbs.

IMG_6022

Steve was styling his black mock neck turtle. Not a MENTION of Apple!

IMG_6026

I smuggled E.T. out of the building.

IMG_6076

Then was chased by a dinosaur!

IMG_6078

When Katniss wasn’t looking I swiped her supply bags and a bow.

IMG_6080

Up next was the SeaLife Aquarium. They had a lot of neat fish from all over the world. I was hoping to see more Florida species.

IMG_6081

IMG_6089

We took a behind the scenes tour and learned a lot about how they feed and care for the fish.

IMG_6091

Our guide, Matthew, was amazing! He was very knowledgeable.

IMG_6093

IMG_6095

This is the quarantine room where fish stay that have just arrived or that will be live food.

IMG_6097

We also got to see the dive bays where they feed the fish from and access the larger tanks.

IMG_6100

They used ozone to help clean the water. They had a GIANT protein skimmer!

IMG_6102

We had a great time! One more photo on the way out. Mom was impressed that the parking garage didn’t charge you to park!

IMG_6106

Since our entire day cost only $5 each for the behind the scenes tour plus a fast food lunch and gas we had a fun ice cream treat!

IMG_6108

We got home and my butterfly hatched! It was a pretty busy and exhausting super fun day!
