New Orleans, Louisiana

The parents woke us up at six ish in the morning. We had enough time to gather our things and hop in the truck. Off we go!

The drive was slightly boring and one of the longest of our trip, 620 miles of driving in one day. At 60 mph towing the camper it takes a while. We passed the time chatting, playing on our iPads, reading comics and watching out the window.

We even went up a few hills! haha

We arrived safely in New Orleans in the late afternoon. We settled in at the campground, French Quarter RV, and got all hooked up. Dad dropped us downtown near Bourbon Street and parked the truck back at the campground and walked down. We had a much needed meal at Felix’s Oysters. I had a HUGE plate of fried crawfish tails! YUMMY.

We wandered around the French Quarter a bit and saw a place we had taken a photo last visit. Mom thinks we are growing up too fast!

We walked over to Cafe Du Monde and had beignets for dessert, between the sugar and the being still all day I am going crazy.

After the cab ride back to the campground, I wanted to SWIM! The pool was a tad bit cold but I desperately needed to burn off some energy.

The next morning we were up early and walked back downtown to the French Quarter for a breakfast treat. This time at a place called New Orleans Famous Beignets and Coffee. Their beignets were WAY better than Cafe Du Monde.  I had a treat of a snow cone  for breakfast.

I am BLUE!

There were thousands of runners running a 10K and we needed to cross the road. We had to play Crossy Road (an app I enjoy on the iPad) to safely get across.

We took a quick trip into the National Park Services building to knock out a Junior Ranger badge.

We walked down and saw the Mississippi Rover and the streetcars.

Next up was a tour call French QuarTOUR Kids. We had a lovely guide named Jill who taught us all about the history of New Orleans. We learned a lot about the time period as well.

We talked about the history of trading white gold (sugar) and cotton. We learned about slavery, medicine and how a girl gets a husband!

During the tour I wanted to answer ALL the questions! My hand got so heavy from being in the air that Emmerson had to help hold it up!

We wandered back to the campground and drove to Hansen’s Sno-Bliz, our favorite place for snow-cones. We were first in line when they opened at 1pm. When waiting we ran into the same couple we were next to in line the prior night at Felix’s! How funny! I had THREE snow-bliz: Chocolate-RootBeer, Pink Peppermint and most of E’s Bubble Gum! Can you say…SUGAR HIGH!

After sugar for lunch we dropped the car at the campground then walked back downtown for dinner Mothers’s Restaurant. I had pancakes while Mom and Dad had Po-Boys. Mom LOVES fried oysters!

Everyone was tuckered after dinner but we stopped at looked in some shops along our path back to the campground. We even peeked in at the yellow fever cemetery.

I was exhausted and getting goofy.

We all had showers and packed up for our morning departure to San Antonio!

Next drive is only 540 miles.

Burning Off Energy Before Our Adventure

We were up early and using our iPads a bit. But then Mom took us to the park for a bit. IMG_9353

I found lots of flowers while E was climbing trees. IMG_9362

After Emmerson teased me a bit I climbed the tree too. I was nervous because these are small trees to climb. I safely made it up and down.

The next day we got dropped at an all day Spring Break Camp at Apollo Gymnastics. We had a great time doing tumbling, climbing and  so much more! I am exhausted now and ready for our departure.
