I had to write a paper for my gifted class. Boy did it take forever!
I finally finished it!
Just in time to go to 4-H and having fun time!
(As portrayed by Mom & Dad)
Mommy informed us that there was a costume contest at the upcoming Star Wards night at a Threshers game. We talked about some costume ideas and agreed homemade is always better. After some online research on easy to make costumes we picked something not so simple… and AT-AT. That stands for All Terrain Armored Transport. You can Google it if you want to see one from the movie.
When I was at class Mom and E took to the store to get supplies. They bought a huge rubbermaid tub, spray paint, a toilet flange and a few things.
When I got home it was at this stage and then we found out the arm holes were too high for me so we created a way to cover them up. We also added pipe insulation around the neck holes so they weren’t so sharp.
We hunted down some old baseball pants and made the lets of the AT-AT.
Then we worked on adding details. We were stumped on the turrets and Mommy ended up using spray paint can lids and straws. The holes were covered with cardboard with details to look like rivets.
A little fancy painting and now to let it dry in the rain and humid weather.
We arrived at the game last night and took several laps around the concourse to show off our costume and so the judges could see it. We had a blast getting out photos taken with many of the Tampa Bay Garrison of the 501st.
My legs were killing me from walking in a funny squat way for so long. I had a small breakdown but a lemonade and a little rest fueled me.
God Bless America.
We found out we were in the final 3 and had to report to the field for a judging by the fans.
Tough competition against a girls ith a homemade guard costume and a boy with a semi homemade stormtrooper meats Lego dude.
The crowd was the judge. And we WON! We won the grand prize of a suite rental to a future home game. Very cool!
We left our Friday classes a little early to drive to Gainesville in advance of the contest. We went to the Florida Natural History Museum and explored the butterfly gardens.
The owl butterfly was beautiful.
I greatly enjoyed looking up the different species we encountered.
Relaxing and watching the butterflies flutter about the area.
We had sumner at a cool pizza place called Satchels. I got a retro yo-yo type toy from the giftshop.
I also got a tiny set of playing cards. They were really tiny.
Up bright and early the next morning and Daddy dropped Mom and I off in the forest at the center where the contest was being held.
It is a new building along a very nice lake full of wildlife, including a few alligators.
Listening carefully to the directions of the contest.
I had to go through lots of different rotations: plants, trees, animals, forest health, maps and finally ecology stories. After it was all finished we got to show our families around the areas. I had a few problems not some of the identifications but I was very pleased and proud. I only decided a few weeks ago I wanted to try this contest and most of the kids had studied all year long.
I want to come back next year and try again!
Mommy organized the egg hunt again this year. We had nearly 80 kids show up. While the adults hid the eggs as the sun was setting a few parents played games with us on the tennis courts. We played duck duck goose, simon says and red light green light.
Group photo of MOST of the kids.
I am on the far left of the photo.
We were called out in age groups and sent out to hunt in the field and playground. Everyone had brought 24 pre filled eggs. This is way more of a challenge than one would think. This field gets extremely dark. We also had to find a golden egg. We could exchange our golden egg for a prize from the table worth up to $5. I picked out a fun Yatzee board game.
