Our team from 4H was the only team from Pinellas County. We were excited and nervous. We all worked so hard and once seeing some of the other teams were very nervous. Mommy told u she heard NO ONE WINS THE FIRST YEAR! We had no idea what to expect.
I had mailed in some photos for the contest but sadly didn’t win. There were no age grouping so I was competing against some really experience photographers.
We were split into groups (so we wouldn’t be with other team mates) and taken off to different areas. I had to concentrate really hard because I was terribly nervous.
We had to go through and identify the plants, vertebrates and invertebrates in each section. There was also a 50 question multiple choice test and a natural history scavenger hunt.
We finally finished and then the waiting started. We tried to eat lunch and shake off all the hard work. We felt confident we did better than we thought.
We walked through and looked at the specimens with the answers while we waited for the judges.
We killed time playing game son my iPad.
Mommy got a cool seahorse thing for helping coach a team.
The awards came out and we got THIRD PLACE!!!! WOW!
HAPPY! PROUD!
EXHAUSTED!
I will be back next year to try for 1st place.
