We stayed in Memphis for the night and then visited the Pink Palace in the morning. The Pink Palace was originally owned by the founder of the Piggly Wiggly chain on grocery stores. When he lost his fortune in the 1920s market crash and depression he also lost this house. He never lived in it. It was made of a pinkish colored rock, hence Pink Palace.
These were preserved birds used in artwork.
Excited to check out each room.
The shrunken head that we read about before visiting.
Sounds yummy!
There were lots of neat things to explore and learn about.
Inside the palace was a museum. It was a museum of random things. There was a circus area, areas about yellow fever and traveling doctors, parts about civil war, a little bit on Elvis, dinosaurs, fossils and even rocks and gems.
Mommy thought Grandma Susie would enjoy these “Flapper Bags”. Great Granny Allen had several of them!
Total randomness! 🙂
I LOVED looking at all of the fossils.
