We went with a local homeschoolers group to Fort De Soto Park. We got there a bit early and ran around in the fields and got the lay of the land.
I found a cannon and thought that the inside of it was really neat.
I liked shouting as loud as I could into the cannon!
When everyone was there we started our tour. We learned all about how the land was when this was an active fort. We saw a video of how they loaded and fired the cannons. It was pretty amazing to know how much work went into firing the cannon ONCE!
I thought is was unny that they had so many different playing cards. Some of the displays had little tiny card and others had normal sized ones. I guess even in times of war you have to have some fun!
I eventually began to misbehave and Mommy & Daddy locked me into the jail!!! Not really!
Emmerson wanted nothing to do with the fort and found a neat tree to play around. It was cold out and we were not dressed right for the weather, hence Emmerson in shorts and a snow hat! It eventually warmed up and he refused to take it off, silly brother!
2 of the original 8 BIG cannons in the fort.
Everyone sitting around learning about the history of the fort. I was sitting very patiently until I saw some kids climbing the cannons.
Soon after all the kids (except a small handful) were climbing the cannons, even though they were told not to!
Mommy shuffled me to a different cannon so i was less tempted to climb and get in trouble. I had a nice time pretended I was going to turn it and fire it at invaders!
I tried to convince another boy to help me.
But he said the cannon wasn’t meant to move and gave up on me.
We had a nice time at the fort but were not pleased with several other parents values and parenting skills. We left a bit early and didn’t finish the fort. My behavior wasn’t the greatest but all in all considering what all was happening, I faired pretty well.
