We left Asheville after breakfast this morning and headed north on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
We stopped at a few scenic overlooks. The view was perfect today. Not a cloud in the sky!
We pulled of at Mount Mitchell and found some SNOW! Emmerson and I had a blast playing in the snow.
We drove as far up as we could and then hiked the rest. 6684 foot elevation. The Highest peak east of the Mississippi River and south of Canada.
This marked the “official” spot.
Pretty high up for Florida boys!
The views were spectacular.
I only tried to throw my baby brother off once!
woops… okay he ran away… i didn’t REALLY throw him off the mountain!
See, he is back!
Daddy even got in a shot of two today! 🙂
If you look carefully on the far end of the visible road you see a little green dot… that is me making a break for it!
I stopped when I found some running water and more snow. Mommy took a break after chasing downhill.
Here is the little stream of water.
We poked at it for a while.
Back to the parking lot and more snow play. I pretended the hill was a slide and got FILTHY!
Emmerson and I made rock designs and forts in the snow.
More working on the creations.
My butt! Dirty and WET! I had to get a complete change of clothing!
Next we headed on to Linville, NC. The goal of the day! We went to Linville Caverns. It was scary dark at first but once I saw the rocks and water running through the caverns I was okay.
I held Mommy’s hand really tight, just in case!
Really cool rocks being created. One inch ever 150 years!!!!
I said it looked like a dragons mouth!
Learning about the bats in the cave and how they hibernate from October until April. Wait, this is APRIL!
Please stay still Mr. Bat while Mommy takes a quick picture.
When we finished we headed to pan for gems! 🙂 I thought this was really fun.
I found a lot of neat items! 🙂
I was so proud of all my finds. I know these places are a rip off but it took us a while to get through a $17 bucket.
We found a lot of “keepers”.
