Quotes of the Day and it is only 8am

Screamed (while a binki was in my mouth) from my room before getting out of bed: “MOMMY call the “BINKI FAIRY” and tell her to come bring back my binkis!!!”

((Mommy took all but 2 binkis away at naptime yesterday! This is causing a LOT of strife!!))

While watching Curious George and eating my Scooby-Doo Mac & Cheese for breakfast: “I wish I had a swimming pool like that with all of those boats and things to play with. I am sad Mommy, I don’t have a swimming pool like that!”

((Yes, loving son, you DO indeed have nearly the same swimming pool and that EXACT boat that the boy was playing with.))

And one from Easter that Mommy nearly forgot: “I NEED to put that candy in my mouth!”

((Sweetie, you have had enough candy!))

Dentist 1: Breighton 0

So today was the big day, and according to dental opinion, a long past due day. Apparently kids should visit the dentist every six months starting when they get their first tooth! I finally have all my baby teeth in so Mommy & Daddy felt that being nearly three years old was about time.

Mommy & Daddy were super nervous because I don’t like to be restrained in any way. Cleaning my teeth and clipping my nails are battles fought only when Mommy has a LOT of patience.

So we got to the dentist “Safari of Smiles” (Mommy picked it because they have an animal theme!) up in New Port Richey. I wanted to go in and see if they had toys to play with in the lobby. NONE! But a animal cartoon was playing and that kept my attention for about 20 seconds. I liked looking at all the animals (with toothbrushes) on the walls.

Finally it was my turn and I got called back. The dental lady showed me all the “tools” and let me look around for a few minutes. Mommy sat down in the chair and I sat on her lap. The dental lady explained about x-rays and how she wanted to take a picture of my teeth and that I could look at them on the computer in a few minutes. She covered me with a heavy blanket and told me it would help keep my belly button out of the picture… because those pesky bell buttons just show up in pictures all the time!! Emmerson got to wait in the staff station while the x-rays were done. I bit down on the film and leaned back and let the elephant nose tickle my nose and beep and we were DONE! That was EASY!

Next came the cleaning. Mommy sat back in the chair and I laid on top of her as the chair tipped WAY WAY WAY back. The lady gave me a pair of neon orange star shaped sunglasses to wear so the sunlight didn’t bug my eyes. Next the dental lady put on a strawberry Ring-Pop (toothpaste holder) and tickled my teeth first with a new Power Ranger toothbrush and then with the mechanical spinning one. She showed me on my finger and I was a little scared but let her do it anyway. It was actually fun and I kept saying “thank you” as she cleaned each tooth. Mommy and the dental lady were in stitches because of my over-politeness to dental hygiene! I was all cleaned in just a few minutes then Dr. Frank came in and “counted my teeth” with the metal stick and checked for cavities.

NO cavaties! Considering how much sugar I consume, pretty surprising! But Mommy (in her sometimes failed attempts) tries to brush me fairly often (she said not as much as she would like to though). Dr. Frank said we are doing everything right. The gaps in my teeth are PERFECT for my new bigger teeth down the road. He said I probably will not need braces! 🙂 My x-rays were really neat to look at. You could see my big-kid teeth hiding out… I should get them around age 6 or 7 when I get my 6-year molars! Probably later since I was late to get my first teeth. They gave me a paste-on (since I don’t reliably spit yet) fluoride treatment and I was all done! 🙂

((Me and my rock-star look! See those pearly whites!!!))

After I was all clean and checked-out I got a goodie bag. It had a “tooth timer” (2 minute egg timer) so I know how long to brush my teeth for. There was also a new toothbrush, some dental floss (shaped like a dragon), a certificate of achievement for the visit and a token good for one toy from the machine by the check-out desk. I picked a “Spiderman Tattoo”.

So to all you parents out there delaying dental care like we did… get on the ball! 🙂 This dentist, a bit of a drive, is totally awesome! My teeth look and feel awesome!

As for the binki. They said the “Binki Fairy” should visit by or around my 3rd birthday. I have a few months and then BYE-BYE binki. They also suggested if I won’t agree to the “Binki Fairy” that Mommy snips off a little piece of the binki every few days until there is nothing left. Mommy & Daddy will have to see how this all plays out. Those may be some rough days so we will wait until I am 100% better to try this. (They tried today at nap time, I willingly gave up all the binkis in exchange for a new lego set to play with if I took a nap without the binkis… but as soon as Mommy left the room I melted down about the binki and Mommy wasn’t up for the battle today!)

Health-Watch 2008

So, I was perfectly fine when I woke up Sunday. I wanted to eat and drink (even milk). I was back to my old fun loving self with an edge of whiney-ness mixed in. Mommy spent Saturday enjoying the tummy ick that set in to her body. We all felt okay on Sunday morning so we went off to our planned Easter events (updates to come later with photos when everyone is rested!). We got home and about 30 minutes before bed I had a diaper explosion so big that (I was playing on the back on the sofa) it got on the window, sofa and all over ME! It was NASTY! Daddy cleaned up the mess in the living room and Mommy gave me a bath, again. I snuggled up with Daddy on the sofa after the bath to read some of my new Scooby books the Easter Bunny gave me.

I looked up and Daddy and gagged and started to throw up. Now, we aren’t sure if this was the stomach bug again or the MASS amount of SUGAR I consumed on Easter. Anyway, Mommy made a 100 yard dash for my purple bucket and met Daddy and me in the kitchen just in time for the big purge. Mommy got me cleaned up, again and Daddy cleaned the kitchen. We read another book and I got tucked into bed where I immediately puked AGAIN! Mommy got me cleaned up AGAIN and Daddy helped strip and re-sheet the bed. I went right to sleep.

Today, I am FINE. Eating normal, not too grumpy and enjoying being two again. I did have a hard time napping but Mommy got me down for a nap after a huge struggle and lots of throwing toys (at Mommy) and hitting (me hitting Mommy!).

Mommy’s tum-tum is still a wreck but she feels fine. The laundry bins are all empty!!! Mommy busted BUTT to get them so! Today alone has been 7 loads so far. Yesterday was only 4. The previous two days we surpassed the 10 load marks. Keep in mind, this is WITH limited animals sleeping in my bed until I am better. Between my vomiting/poop and Emmerson’s reflux/normal baby stuff and the germ elimination laundry(washing everything to make sure no germs remain and only using towels and hand-towels once) I think Mommy is going insane!

The carpets still need wet-vac’d but that is still back-burner until we are all 100% better, again!

Tomorrow, assuming I still feel well, I go for my first ever visit to the dentist. Please think happy thoughts on that… Mommy is super nervous that I will be a butt-head! Hopefully the dentist will appeal to my logical side and ease me into the cleaning and x-rays. Mommy is hoping they will convince me to give up the binki (like the dentist did to Daddy at this same age).

Note to myself to give to my future therapist…

So, when my future therapist is trying to understand my aversion to buckets, purple, and flavored water, tell him that my “get sick” bucket was a purple plastic 1 gallon easter egg bucket.  I *hate* that bucket.  I scream at it to get away.  I don’t like it at all.
As for the flavored water, I’m burned out on it.  It reminds me of being sick….

On the mend…

Last night I was in my own bed asleep by 7:45pm. I called for Mommy at 3am with a wet diaper and by the time she went and got the stuff to change me I was back asleep. Mommy nursed Emmerson and went back to bed. Emmerson woke up again at 5:45 and Mommy fed him and just tucked him into bed and I screamed at the top of my lungs “MOMMMMMMMYY, SICK!” Mommy RAN to my room, threw open the door, dove for the puke bucket, shoved it into my bed and then I threw up (not in the bucket!!). Mommy stripped the towel I was sleeping on and the sheets. As she started I was more concerned about my “friends” (Lumpy and pals). I wanted to make sure she got them out QUICK so they didn’t get yucky and have to take another bath in the washing machine. Good news is that it was only a LITTLE bit of spit up. I watched cartoons until the sun came up and then Daddy made pancakes. I had two! I also had a sippy of Propel and another of water. We ran to Costco so Mommy could get her glasses (that I managed to break two weeks ago). When there we picked up jelly beans for Grandma Jo and I wanted them – badly. Mommy had me call Grandma Jo and ask. She said yes and I got a small cup of jelly beans. I MUST be feeling better! Thanks for checking in on me. Hopefully the worst has past! 🙂
